Lambda as S3 for compute

AWS Lambda reportedly emerged from the S3 team’s question of whether compute could have a PUT/GET/LIST-like primitive, which explains the shape of serverless invocation

I recently learned that Lambda came out of the S3 org at AWS. S3 did PUT/GET/LIST for storage so the question simply was why not the same for compute? That’s how “invoke” came to be, apparently.
